title SUMMARY /title To sum up, my proposal is to investigate the complex relationship between the acceptance of the validity of using a particular scientific instrument such as the telescope or barometer, the acceptance of a particular body of theory and the institutional affiliations of the scientific practitioners concerned, for the special case of members of the Society of Jesus.
