Tom Noonan was not only my husband for over 38 years; he was also my best friend. In this essay, I shall share some impressions of Tom and draw some sketches of our life together. This will help to understand that the public persona of Thomas Schaub Noonan was not a complete picture of his life. Tom was a complex man, fiercely independent, totally honest and trustworthy, and one of a kind. Tom's early death left a huge gap in the academic world and in the personal lives of those who knew him and loved him. I will also include a few foibles and idiosyncrasies, since they were part of the complexity of understanding him.
