Among the four elements, the earth seems to be for Beckett the matter which allows the human being to go back to his roots, through the most fundamental postures or through walking. It is the matter of space itself which, from a Beckettian point of view, needs to be explored step by step, by covering the distance. We will then use Deleuze and Guattari's "geophilosophy" to analyse the beating between "deterritorialization" and "reterritorialization," the character's "nomadism," the wandering on Earth following the rythm of a constant "come and go" – in a word, to draw Beckett's cartography.
