Abstract

Nando Messias is a Brazilian artist based in London whose work straddles performance art, dance and theatre. This interview explores how Nando brings a ‘queer’ perspective to our understanding of Beckett’s drama and Beckettian aesthetics. The artist reflects upon their training, the performing of Not I, and their wider practice in live art and queer performance.

Nando Messias est un artiste brésilien qui vit à Londres et dont le travail est au croisement de l’ art performance, de la danse et du théâtre. Cet entretien explore comment Nando teinte d’ une perspective ‘queer’ notre appréhension du théâtre de Beckett et de l’ esthétique beckettienne. L’ artiste revient sur sa formation, sur son interprétation de Pas moi, et, plus généralement, sur sa pratique du spectacle vivant et des performances queer.
