Entering Anthologies with Names: The First Generation of Courtesan Poets in Ming Dynasty Nanjing

Abstract
This article traces the first generation of Ming courtesan poets and the earliest extant anthology recording both their poems and full names. These pioneering courtesan poets emerged from anonymity in the city of Nanjing during the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries. They represented a new mode of literary production and circulation in the context of social, economic, and cultural transformation which began in the mid-Ming. To better situate courtesan poets within the Ming world of letters, we examine the various sources recording their biographical information and literary/artistic creations.

Cet article retrace la première génération de courtisanes poétesses sous les Ming et la plus ancienne anthologie connue consignant à la fois leurs poèmes et leurs noms complets. Ces poétesses pionnières sont sorties de l’anonymat dans la ville de Nanjing à la fin du xve et au début du xvie siècle. Elles représentaient un nouveau mode de production et de circulation littéraires dans le contexte des transformations sociale, économique et culturelle qui ont débuté au milieu des Ming. Afin de mieux situer ces courtisanes poétesses dans le monde des lettres des Ming, nous examinons les différentes sources consignant des informations biographiques et leurs créations littéraires et artistiques.

本文追溯了明代第一批名妓詩人以及記錄了她們姓名與作品的現存最早的詩歌選集。這群名垂選集的名妓詩人生活在十五世紀末十六世紀初的南京，她們代表著自明代中葉始社會、經濟與文化轉型背景下的一種新的文學創作與傳播模式。本文通過挖掘、檢閱她們的生平資料與相關的藝文創作，探究名妓詩人與明代文學世界的深刻聯繫。
