Abstract

The difficulties in understanding the phrase &#1493&#1489&#1510&#1506&#1501 &#1489&#1512&#1488&#1513 &#1499&#1500&#1501 (Amos ix 1) are pointed out and several different attempts to translate it are discussed. It is argued that the most satisfactory rendering is &#147Kill those (who are) at the head of them all&#148.
