Founded in 1965,
Mittellateinische Studien und Texte has grown to be the main forum for the publication of high-quality studies on the Latin literature of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance (ca. 6th through 16th centuries). Many senior scholars in the field have published in this peer-reviewed series. Monographs in the series cover literary history, paleography, the history of the language, the history of the transmission of texts, as well as rhythm and metrics. Volumes include original scholarly monographs, as well as critical editions of Latin primary sources (with analytical essays or commentaries).
Authors are cordially invited to submit proposals and/or full manuscripts to either the series editor, Professor Thomas Haye, or the Publisher at Brill, Dr Kate Hammond.

Die im Jahre 1965 begründete Reihe Mittellateinische Studien und Texte hat sich zum bedeutendsten Publikationsort für herausragende Studien im Bereich der Lateinischen Philologie des Mittelalters und der Renaissance (6. bis 16. Jahrhundert) entwickelt. Viele renommierte Vertreter des Faches haben Bücher in dieser wissenschaftlich begutachteten Serie publiziert. Jedes Jahr erscheinen zwei bis drei neue Titel. Die Arbeiten stammen aus den Bereichen der Literaturgeschichte, der Paläographie, der Sprachgeschichte, der Textüberlieferung sowie der Rhythmik und Metrik. Es handelt sich dabei entweder um erstmals veröffentliche wissenschaftliche Monographien oder um kritische Editionen lateinischer Primärquellen (mit analytischen Beiträgen oder Kommentaren).

Thomas Haye is Professor for Lateinische Philologie des Mittelalters und der Neuzeit and Vice-Director of the Zentrum für Mittelalter- und Frühneuzeitforschung at the University of Göttingen. He undertook his Habilitationsarbeit under Paul Gerhard Schmidt in the 90s in Freiburg (published as
Das lateinische Lehrgedicht im Mittelalter, in 1997 in
Mittellateinische Studien und Texte), moving via Kiel to Göttingen in 2002 as successor to Wilhelm Meyer, Hans Walther, Paul Gerhard Schmidt and Fidel Rädle (his Doktorvater). He is author and editor of several other monographs, editions and essay collections and a leading member of scholarly associations for medieval and neo-Latin in the English- and German-speaking worlds.
