The Journal of World Literature (JWL) aspires to bring together scholars interested in developing the concept of World Literature, and to provide the most suitable environment for contributions from all the world’s literary traditions. It creates a forum for re-visiting global literary heritages, discovering valuable works that have been undeservedly ignored, and introducing aspects of the transnational global dissemination of literature, with translation as a focus. The journal welcomes submissions that can concurrently imagine any literary tradition, in any language, moving beyond national frames to simultaneously discuss and develop the cosmopolitan threads of a variety of literary traditions. It also welcomes contributions from scholars of different research backgrounds working collaboratively as well as from group research projects interested in showcasing their findings, in order to meet the challenge of a wider and deeper discussion of literature’s networks.

The editorial board of the JWL warmly welcomes submissions for open-call issues.

Peer Review Policy: All articles published in Journal of World Literature undergo a double-anonymous external peer review process. This includes articles published in special issues.

Philological Encounters is dedicated to the historical and philosophical critique of philology.

The journal welcomes global and comparative perspectives that integrate textual scholarship and the study of language from across the world. Alongside four issues a year, monographs and/ or collected volumes will occasionally be published as supplements to the journal in the book series Philological Encounters Monographs.

The journal is open to contributions in all fields studying the history of textual practices, hermeneutics and philology, philological controversies, and the intellectual and global history of writing, archiving, tradition-making and publishing. Neither confined to any discipline nor bound by any geographical or temporal limits, Philological Encounters takes as its point of departure the growing concern with the global significance of philology and the potential of historically conscious and politically critical philology to challenge exclusivist notions of the self and the canon. Philological Encounters welcomes innovative and critical contributions in the form of articles as well as review articles, usually of two or three related books, and preferably from different disciplines.

Editor-in-Chief:
Journal of Chinese Humanities, a Diamond Open Access journal, is an English-language extension of Literature, History and Philosophy (Wen Shi Zhe 《文史哲》), a famous Chinese journal published by Shandong University. The content is not restricted to one aspect of Chinese culture but rather spans important topics within the fields of Chinese history, philosophy, and literature. It covers both traditional and modern areas of re-search. Importantly, as opposed to most English language journals that treat on Chinese studies, this journal aims to represent the current research coming out of mainland China. Thus each issue will be composed primarily of articles from Chinese scholars working at Chinese institutions, while at the same time including a small number of articles from foreign authors so as to provide opposing perspectives. This way, top scholars in China can be read in the Western world, and our Western readers will benefit from a native perspective and first hand material and research coming out of China.

Every issue will be theme-based, focusing on an issue of common interest to the academic community both within and outside China. The majority of articles will relate directly to the central theme, but each issue will also accept a limited number of articles not directly related to the current theme.

Peer Review Process
Journal of Chinese Humanities uses a double-anonymous external peer review system, which means that manuscript author(s) do not know who the reviewers are, and that reviewers do not know the names of the author(s).

Ethics Statement
The publication of a manuscript in a peer-reviewed work is expected to follow standards of ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: authors, editors, and reviewers. Authors, editors, and reviewers should thoroughly acquaint themselves with Brill’s Ethics Statement.

Open Access Fee
All articles are published under a non-exclusive Open Access license in exchange for an Article Publication Charge. The author(s) keep full copyright and give Brill permission to publish by signing a special Brill Open Consent to Publish. The Brill Open Consent to Publish will be sent to you by the responsible desk-editor. For more information go to Brill Open.

A Journal in Interdisciplinary Research
Editor-in-Chief:
As of 2020, Transcultural Studies is no longer published by Brill. The editorial board of Transcultural Studies: A Journal in Interdisciplinary Research welcomes contributions into literatures and cultures in the context of new methodologies in cultural theory, aesthetics, philosophy or political thought. The principle of ‘transculture’ which the journal promotes, refers to scholarly inquiry which ideally transcends ‘national borders’ and purely regional concerns in order to speak in a generalized language of critique shared by a universal community of thinkers and academics.

All articles should contribute to the scholarly debate through original research and a theoretical grounding. Contributions from a comparative perspective will also be considered.
The editorial board will plan and advertise specific thematic issues and oversee the refereeing process. Guest editors are welcome to propose topics for an issue or part issue.

Transcultural Studies was originally conceived as a platform for transcultural – post-structural – thought in Russia and Eastern Europe. Post-structuralism was introduced to the Soviet Russian academic scene in the 1980s by the late Georgian philosopher, Merab Mamardashvili. Since the journal’s inception in 2006, the scope of the journal has gradually been enlarged.

Journal of the Global South
Editor:
As a cross-disciplinary journal in the humanities and social sciences, Bandung: Journal of the Global South aims at providing an academic and policy platform for scholars and practitioners to develop new theoretical perspectives, share revealing findings, and exchange views. These should be grounded on the complex post-colonial landscapes of African, Asian, and Latin American peoples, for identifying their own ways and strategies of development and decolonization. Alternative paradigms, worldviews, ontologies, and epistemologies as well as praxes are encouraged to develop context-sensitive debates pertinent to African, Asian, and Latin American intellectual traditions and empirical, cultural, and theoretical realities. Moreover, research perspectives from outside the Global South are welcome to facilitate the South-North dialogues.

All articles published in Bandung underwent double-blinded peer review procedure, which also applies to articles published in special issues.

Since 2023 Bandung has been indexed by Scopus.

Emotions: History, Culture, Society (EHCS) is dedicated to understanding the emotions as culturally and temporally-situated phenomena, and to exploring the role of emotion in shaping human experience and action by individuals, groups, societies and cultures.

EHCS welcomes theoretically-informed work from a range of historical, cultural and social domains. The journal aims to illuminate (1) the ways emotion is conceptualized and understood in different temporal or cultural settings, from antiquity to the present, and across the globe; (2) the impact of emotion on human action and in processes of change; and (3) the influence of emotional legacies from the past on current social, cultural and political practices.

EHCS is interested in multidisciplinary approaches (both qualitative and quantitative), from history, art, literature, languages, music, politics, sociology, cognitive sciences, cultural studies, environmental humanities, religious studies, linguistics, philosophy, psychology, and related disciplines. The journal also invites papers that interrogate the methodological and critical problems of exploring emotions in historical, cultural and social contexts, and the relation between past and present in the study of feelings, passions, sentiments, emotions and affects. Finally, the journal accepts theoretically-informed and reflective scholarship that explores how scholars access, uncover, construct and engage with emotions in their own scholarly practice.

Following an initial review process by the editors, EHCS sends acceptable submissions to two expert independent readers outside the author’s home institution, employing a double-blind review procedure.

EHCS is published on behalf of the Society for the History of Emotions.
