The peer-reviewed Journal of Religion in Europe provides a forum for multi-disciplinary research into the complex dynamics of religious discourses and practices in Europe, both historical and contemporary. The journal’s underlying idea is that religion in Europe is characterized by a variety of pluralisms. There is a pluralism of religious communities that actively engage with one another. Additionally, there is a pluralism of societal systems, such as nations, law, politics, economy, science, and art, all of which interact with religious systems. There is also a pluralism of scholarly discourses, including religious studies, legal studies, history, anthropology, sociology, philosophy, and psychology, that are addressing the religious dynamics involved. The Journal of Religion in Europe encourages new research that responds to the changing European dimension of social and cultural studies regarding these pluralisms.

The primary focus of the Journal of Sindhi Studies (JOSS) is the Sindh region, located in southern Pakistan. However, Sindhis live in other parts of Pakistan as well as in India and across the globe. The journal accepts submissions that address the people of Sindh, regardless of their current geographic location.
JOSS aims to shed interdisciplinary light on the “Sindhi World.” It accepts submissions from all disciplines but prioritizes perspectives from the humanities and interpretive social sciences (e.g., anthropology, history, sociology, geography, literature, art history, and visual studies). The journal’s humanistic and interpretive approach aims to draw submissions into a single comparative forum to analyze, discuss, and understand the many intricate and multilayered contexts that constitute the Sindh region and the lives of its people.

JOSS also approaches Sindhi Studies as a field to address broader questions about society and the human condition, both in the past and present. It privileges submissions that, in addition to Sindh and Sindhis, tackle topics like colonialism and nationalism, integration and marginalization, devotion and institutionalization, vernacularism and cosmopolitanism, and many others. The journal strives toward a better general understanding of the world by addressing it through the lens of Sindhi Studies.

The Journal of Sindhi Studies is a Mission Interdisciplinaire Française du Sindh (MIFS) or Sindhi Studies Group initiative. The journal acknowledges the kind support of the Centre d'Études de l'Inde et de l'Asie du Sud (CEIAS), jointly administered by the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS). The journal also encourages readers and contributors to join the Sindhi Studies Group’s EHESS blog (https://sindh.hypotheses.org/). Members of this group are entitled to a 50% discount on the individual subscription rate.

Abstracts and Index of Recent Articles
Editor:
As of 2021, Science of Religion is no longer published as a journal by Brill, but will continue in electronic format as Index to the Study of Religions Online.

The objective of Science of Religion is to provide a systematic bibliography of articles which contribute in various ways to the academic study of religions. This in turn is intended to facilitate the work and international collaboration of all scholars working in this field. The abstracts published in Science of Religion are drawn from a wide range of journals in various languages and reflect a range of contributory or complementary disciplines. The list of periodicals consulted is reviewed regularly and suggestions for improvement are welcomed. Science of Religion does not seek to appraise or criticise the contents of any articles. Nor does it endorse any of the religious standpoints or agendas referred to in the articles abstracted. In all cases the individual authors are responsible for their own opinions and any reference to these opinions should take account of the complete article in the original source. Science of Religion is published by Brill with the support of the International Association for the History of Religions (IAHR).

The online version of Science of Religion, the Index to the Study of Religions Online, can be found here.
