The Journal of Global Slavery (JGS) aims to advance and promote a greater understanding of slavery and post-slavery from comparative, transregional, and/or global perspectives, as well as methodological and theoretical aspects of its study. It especially underscores the global and globalizing nature of slavery in world history.

As a practice in which human beings were held captive for an indefinite period of time, coerced into extremely dependent and exploitative power relationships, denied rights (including potentially rights over their labor, lives, and bodies), could be bought and sold, were vulnerable to forced relocation by various means, and forced to labor against their will, slavery in one form or another has existed in innumerable societies throughout history. JGS fosters a global view of slavery by integrating the latest scholarship from around the world and providing an interdisciplinary platform for scholars working on slavery in regions as diverse as ancient Rome, Pre-Colombian Mexico, Han dynasty China, the Ottoman Empire, the antebellum United States, and twenty-first-century Mali.

The journal also promotes a view of slavery as a globalizing force in the development of world civilizations. Global history focuses heavily upon the global movement of people, goods, and ideas, with a particular emphasis on processes of integration and divergence in the human experience. Slavery straddles all of these focal points, as it connected and integrated various societies through economic and power-based relationships, and simultaneously divided societies by class, race, ethnicity, and cultural group.

JGS is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes articles based on original research, book reviews, short notes and communications, and special issues. It especially invites articles that situate studies of slavery (whether historical or modern-day forms) in explicitly comparative, transregional, and/or global contexts. Themes may include (but are not limited to):
• the different and changing social, cultural, and legal meanings of slavery across time and space;
• the roles that slavery has played in the development of intersecting and interdependent relationships between societies throughout world history;
• comparative practices of enslavement (through warfare, indebtedness, trade, etc.);
• human trafficking and forced migration;
• transregional dialogues and the movement of ideas and practices of slavery and anti-slavery across space;
• slave cultures and cultural transfer;
• political, economic, and ideological causes and effects of slavery;
• religion and slavery;
• resistance;
• abolition, emancipation, and manumission practices from global or comparative perspectives;
• the psychological effects, memories, legacies, and representations of slave practices.

Asian Diasporic Visual Cultures and the Americas is a peer-reviewed journal that features multidisciplinary scholarship on intersections between visual culture studies and the study of Asian diasporas across the Americas. Perspectives on and from North, Central and South America, as well as the Pacific Islands and the Caribbean are presented to encourage the hemispheric transnational study of multiple Americas with diverse indigenous and diasporic populations. The broad conceptualization of the Americas as a complex system of continual movement, migratory flows and cultural exchange, and Asian diaspora as an analytical tool, enables the critical examination of the historically under-represented intersections between and within, Asian Canadian Studies, Asian American Studies, Asian Latin American Studies, Asian Caribbean Studies, and Pacific Island Studies. The journal explores visual culture in all its multifaceted forms, including, but not limited to, visual arts, craft, cinema, film, performing arts, public art, architecture, design, fashion, media, sound, food, networked practices, and popular culture. It recognizes the ways in which diverse systems of visualities, inclusive of sensorial, embodied experience, have shaped and embedded meanings within culturally specific, socio-political and ideological contexts.

Asian Diasporic Visual Cultures and the Americas is dedicated to the critical examination of visual cultural production by and about Asian diasporic communities in the Americas and largely conceived within a globally connected framework. The journal provides an intellectual forum for researchers and educators to showcase, engage and be in dialogue with this growing multidisciplinary area of investigation within the humanities and is published twice annually with one double issue. Along with academic articles, each issue features reviews of a wide range of visual cultural production, including books, films, and exhibitions, as well as full colour artist pages. The journal welcomes transnational and transhistorical as well as site-based scholarly critique and investigation on visual cultures that engage with historical, material, cultural and political contextualizations within current discussions on race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, dis/ability and class as well as aesthetics, ethics, epistemologies, and technologies of visuality. Transcultural areas of investigation in the humanities, including Asian-Indigenous collaborations, historical formulations of Afro-Asian connections, and studies on transnational subjects of mixed-race heritage, are welcome. In this way, the journal recognizes the critical project of challenging not only the assumed pan-ethnicity of cultural groupings but also the varying degrees of racialized experiences that have been freighted by cultural stereotypes or based on regional identifications, geographical proximity and fixed temporalities.

The editors invite manuscript submissions in the form of articles (approximately 5,000-6,000 words), reviews (800-1,000 words) as well as proposed artist pages (up to 6 pages), which enrich, advance and expand the study of visual cultures in diverse Asian diasporic communities across the Americas, conceived of in the broadest way.

As a cross-disciplinary journal in the humanities and social sciences, Bandung: Journal of the Global South aims at providing an academic and policy platform for scholars and practitioners to develop new theoretical perspectives, share revealing findings, and exchange views. These should be grounded on the complex postcolonial landscapes of African, Asian, and Latin American peoples, for identifying their own ways and strategies of development and decolonization. Alternative paradigms, worldviews, ontologies, and epistemologies as well as praxis are encouraged to develop context-sensitive debates pertinent to African, Asian, and Latin American intellectual traditions and empirical, cultural, and theoretical realities.

The Journal of American-East Asian Relations is a peer-reviewed quarterly journal of interdisciplinary historical, cross-cultural, and social science scholarship from all parts of the world. The scope includes diplomatic, economic, security, and cultural relations, as well as Asian-American history. Geographical coverage includes the United States, Canada, other countries in the Americas, and East Asia, typically China, Japan, and Korea, but also the Pacific area, Australasia, Southeast Asia, and the Russian Far East.

Lusotopie is a comparatist international journal devoted to the analysis of politics in the broad sense (building and reform of the state, nationalism, elections, ethnicity, neoliberalism, gender relations, racialization of social life, international conflicts and civil wars, media, civil society, cultures, religions, migrations, etc.) within the contemporary spaces stemming from Portuguese history and colonization. Lusotopie addresses these topics within the Portuguese heterogeneous post-colonial space, on four continents, and populated by mobile communities and numerous Diasporas. Since 1994, Lusotopie has published a wide range of contributions from researchers of over 30 different nationalities and has brought up an egalitarian dialogue space thanks to use of three international languages (French, Portuguese and English).

Lusotopie est une revue comparatiste internationale, dont le but est le développement de la recherche politique sur les espaces contemporains issus de l’histoire et de la colonisation, portugaises. Elle entend poser tous les problèmes généraux de l’analyse politique (nationalisme, ethnicité, néolibéralisme, réforme de l’État, fédéralisme, relations de genre, guerres civiles, médias, société civile, élections, etc.) : son originalité est de les “traiter” au sein de cet espace postcolonial et composite, présent sur quatre continent s et dans de nombreuses diasporas. Paraissant depuis 1994, Lusotopie a publié des travaux d’auteurs de plus de trente nationalités, souvent originaires de pays du Sud et institué un espace de dialogue égalitaire grâce à son usage systématique de trois langues internationales (français, portugais et anglais).

Propõe-se abordar os problemas gerais da análise política (nacionalismo, etnicidade, neoliberalismo, reforma do Estado, federalismo, relações de género, guerras civis, media, eleições, etc.): a originalidade da revista é a de tratar aqueles problemas no seio do espaço post-colonial e plural, presente em quatro continentes e em numerosas diásporas. Saindo desde 1994 Lusotopie publicou trabalhos de autores de mais de trinta nacionalidades, muitos dos quais naturais de países do Sul, e instituiu um espaço de diálogo egalitário graças ao uso sistemático de três línguas internacionais (francês, inglês e português).
