The purpose of the Annual Review of the Sociology of Religion (ARSR) is to investigate the “new” role of religion in the contemporary world, which is characterized by cultural pluralism and religious individualism.

It is the aim of the ARSR to combine different methods within the social scientific study of religion. The ARSR employs an interdisciplinary and comparative approach at an international level, to describe and interpret the complexity of religious phenomena within different geopolitical situations, highlighting similarities and discontinuities. Dealing with a single theme in each volume, the ARSR intends to tackle the relationship between the practices and the dynamics of everyday life and the different religions and spiritualities, within the framework of post-secular society. All contributions are welcome, both those studying organizational aspects and those exploring individual religiosity.

The series published an average of one volume per year over the last 5 years.

The Brill Research Perspectives in Comparative Discrimination Law addresses discrimination issues both horizontally (discrimination law as an overarching framework) as well as vertically (specific topics within discrimination law – for example, age, sex, race, and disability – at national, regional, and international levels). Theoretical approaches as well as more pragmatic approaches, such as active measures, are also examined. Each quarterly issue comprises a single short monograph of 50-100 pages presenting state-of-the-art research and analysis of a selected subject. The Brill Research Perspectives in Comparative Discrimination Law’s primary readership includes scholars, educators, students, policy decision makers, practitioners, and non-governmental organizations active in the field of discrimination law. The objective of the journal is to create a global approach to these issues, with the endeavor of publishing contributions by authors from around the world.
"Brill Research Perspectives in International Law" is an international, peer-reviewed book series publishing short monographs in public and private international law. The series is comprised of nine subseries including: international investment law and arbitration, banking and securities law, comparative discrimination law, family law, law and religion, law of the sea, legal theory, transnational crime and international water law.

The book series Chinese Perspectives on Human Rights and Good Governance is edited within the Institute for Human Rights at the China University of Political Science and Law. It offers scholarly analysis and discussion of the theory and practice of international and national human rights law and good governance issues of particular relevance to China.
Critical Animal Studies investigates and challenges the complex dynamics of structural, institutional and discursive power formations that affect animals, humans, and the environment. By “critical” we mean that animal studies must not become a safe and sanitized discourse; it must use its unique and powerful perspective to advance a radical and oppositional dissent that engages and politicizes the many profound ethical, environmental, and social issues embedded in animal studies. With a critical orientation to the study of human-animal relationships, the series seeks to contribute to current debates and be a resource for social justice, animal advocacy and environmental movements and research as well as for humanities and social science scholars more generally. The series bridges boundaries between academic and activist knowledge development, between scholarship and citizenship, between theory and praxis, as well as between existing disciplines. We particularly invite texts that explore under researched areas such as animals and climate change, globalization, capital, colonialism, queer theory, education theory, childhood studies, labor issues, and disability studies. • Intervene in the animal economy of the production, science, service, experience, and culture industries;
• Critically analyze ideologies, practices and effects of the current animal welfare movements;

• Reappraise preexisting texts (such as Elaine Scarry’s The Body in Pain) by exploring new connects to the field of critical animal studies;
• Contribute to bold, innovative, and boundary shifting knowledge development in critical animal studies.

Critical Leaders and the Foundation of Disability Studies in Education aims to formalize the significance of early histories of understanding disability drawn from the scholarship of those who turned away from conventional status quo and pathologized constructs commonly accepted worldwide to explain disability in schools and society. The series begins with recognition of North American scholars including: Ellen Brantlinger, Lous Heshusius, Steve Taylor, Doug Biklen, and Thomas M. Skrtic. We will expand the series to include scholars from several international countries who likewise formed analyses that shaped the terrain for the emergence of critical perspectives that have endured and slowly given rise to the interdisciplinary field of Disability Studies in Education.

Critical Leaders and the Foundation of Disability Studies in Education is a sub-series to the book series Studies in Inclusive Education. The early modern colonization of the Americas ranks among the most influential developments that shaped the modern world. Between the initial exploratory European contacts with the Americas in the late fifteenth century and the eventual independence of American states from Europe lies the multifaceted development of small communities into large colonies, which drew upon their European inheritance and their New World experience and interaction with non-European cultures and societies to form distinctive cultures and identities. The peer-reviewed book series Early American History Series is dedicated to the advancement of scholarly understanding of the history of the colonization of the Americas. It offers explorations on any aspect of early American history to a broad audience of historians. These investigations may be conceived in the broadest way chronologically, geographically, and thematically, whether in explicitly comparative studies, or by the grouping of studies. The book series is housed at the State University of New York—New Paltz (U.S.A.).
