The inter- and transdisciplinary study series Beyond Historicism - New Testament Studies Today builds on the philological principles underlying the translation of the Frankfurter Neues Testament by Stefan Alkier and Thomas Paulsen. The philological-critical respect for the respective expressive power of the sign production of others is not only the scientific but also the ethical basis of the Beyond Historicism study series. It publishes critical philological, exegetical and historical monographs and anthologies that directly or indirectly illuminate New Testament texts in their respective encyclopedic contexts. The commitment to thorough critical philology as the basis for data analysis and historical hypothesis formation aims to leave behind any form of historicism. Manuscripts can be submitted in German, English, French and Italian. They undergo a peer-review process within the editorial board and its scientific advisory board.
Biblische Zeitschrift, one of the leading international journals in Biblical Studies, calls researchers to submit excellent monographs and conference volumes in German, English and French for its newly founded series "Biblische Zeitschrift Supplements" (BZ Sup). This new peer-reviewed series aims to further the understanding of the Biblical texts of the Old and the New Testament. Subjects may include philological or text-critical issues, questions of historical and cultural contextualization including the analysis of intertestamental and deutero-canonical literature, or develop literary, hermeneutical or theological issues. Studies in the history of reception of Bible texts are also welcome. BZ Sup is open both to contributions from established researchers and to innovative hiqh-quality work of younger colleagues in the exciting, ever-developing field of Biblical Studies.
Studies dealing explicitly with the dynamics of the intersection of religious and cultural traditions are increasing every year, and scholars have become aware of the complexity and diversity of interreligious and intercultural relations. Recent literature offers a broad panoply of theoretical approaches from theologies of religions to comparative theologies, from discourse analysis to a postcolonial critique focusing on issues of power, from feminist readings asking about the specific role of women in interreligious dialogue to interreligious hermeneutics exploring how meaning may travel across cultural and religious traditions. Currents of Encounter welcomes this variety of works in these disciplines and from interdisciplinary perspectives aiming thus to contribute to a better understanding of the complexities of interreligious and intercultural themes. The board welcomes both monographs and edited volumes.

With globalization, increasingly complex interdependencies are also emerging at the cultural level. Identities and worldviews are therefore changing with increasing dynamism, which can only be understood with a view to both the local tradition and the intercultural-global dimension. This is especially true for religions and religious phenomena. The series Global Religion | Religion global confronts this reflexive entanglement, which is typical for modernity, by being characterized by a cultural-analytical perspective that reflects religions, religious phenomena, and worldviews of today in their complex interconnectedness. It is theologically grounded in that (religious) convictions are also viewed and understood from within. In terms of content, the series includes studies and anthologies that deal with local situations in their religious-ideological character or supra-regional/global religious phenomena with reference to today’s situation. In this way, a mosaic is to be created which, on the basis of individual studies, profoundly grasps today’s world in its current ideological-religious dynamics.
Die Reihe ist mit Band 5 abgeschlossen.
