Die Biblische Zeitschrift, eine der führenden internationalen Zeitschriften für biblische Studien, lädt Forscher dazu ein, herausragende Monographien und Tagungsbände in deutscher, englischer und französischer Sprache für ihre neu gegründete Reihe „Biblische Zeitschrift Supplements“ (BZ Sup) einzureichen. Diese dem Peer-Review-Verfahren unterliegende Buchreihe beabsichtigt, das Verständnis der biblischen Texte des alten und Neuen Testamentes zu vertiefen. Auch Manuskripte zu philologischen oder textkritischen Fragestellungen und zu Fragen der historischen und kulturellen Kontextualisierung einschließlich der Analyse der zwischentestamentlichen und deuterokanonischen Literatur sowie zu literarischen, hermeneutischen und theologischen Fragestelllungen sind ebenso willkommen wie Untersuchungen zur Wirkungsgeschichte biblischer Texte. BZ Sup steht den Beiträgen etablierter Forscher ebenso wie innovativen Arbeiten jüngerer Forscher im spannenden und sich dauerhaft fortentwickelnden Feld der biblischen Studien offen.

Mit der Globalisierung entstehen zunehmend komplexe Abhängigkeiten auch auf der kulturellen Ebene. Identitäten und Weltanschauungen verändern sich daher mit einer zunehmenden Dynamik, die nur mit Blick sowohl auf die lokale Tradition als auch die interkulturell-globale Dimension verstanden werden kann. Dies gilt insbesondere für Religionen und religiöse Phänomene. Die Reihe Global Religion | Religion global stellt sich dieser für die Moderne typischen reflexiven Verschränkung, indem sie durch eine kulturanalytische Perspektive geprägt ist, die Religionen, religiöse Phänomene und Weltanschauungen der heutigen Zeit in ihrer komplexen Verwobenheit reflektiert. Theologisch fundiert ist sie dadurch, dass (religiöse) Überzeugungen auch von innen heraus betrachtet und verstanden werden. Inhaltlich werden in der Reihe Studien und Sammelbände aufgenommen, die lokale Situationen in ihrer religiös-weltanschaulichen Prägung oder überregionale/globale religiöse Phänomene mit Bezug zur heutigen Situation bearbeiten. Damit soll ein Mosaik entstehen, das anhand einzelner Untersuchungen tiefgründig die heutige Welt in ihren aktuellen weltanschaulich-religiösen Dynamiken erfasst.

Mit dem auf vier Bände angelegten Werk wird erstmalig eine Ikonologie der christlichen Kunst im historischen Ablauf geschildert.
Die komplexe Geschichte des Bildes in der Kirche wird ausgehend von der Intention der Darstellungen auf den verschiedenen Bildträgern aufgezeigt und die Weise der damit verbundenen Argumentation fundiert dargelegt. Eingebettet in allgemeine historische Entwicklungen wird der Wandel der Themenkreise beschrieben. In der Einleitung werden die Prinzipien der Arbeit erläutert. Teil 1 (Alte Kirche) behandelt die Entstehung einer christlichen Bildkunst am Grabe (auf Sarkophagen und in Katakomben) und den späteren Übergang in die Kirchdekoration. Nach gleichen Prinzipien werden in Teil 2 die Bildkunst des Mittelalters, in Teil 3 die der Neuzeit und in Teil 4 die andersartige Entwicklung in der Ostkirche geschildert.
This four-volume work is the first to depict an iconology of Christian art in its historical context.
The complex history of the picture in the church is shown on the basis of the intention of the representations on the different picture carriers and the way in which the argumentation connected with it is soundly presented. Embedded in general historical developments the change of the subject areas is described. In the introduction the principles of the work are explained. Part 1 (Old Church) deals with the emergence of Christian pictorial art at the grave (on sarcophagi and in catacombs) and the later transition to church decoration. According to the same principles, Part 2 describes the pictorial art of the Middle Ages, Part 3 the art of modern times and Part 4 the different development in the Eastern Church.

Political and Public Theologies: Comparisons – Coalitions – Critiques seeks to provide a forum for critical and constructive engagements with the significance of theologies for the public square. Connecting the increasingly interdisciplinary fields of political and public theology, the series is interested in the impact that theologies have on public issues and the impact that public issues have on theologies, both theoretically and practically. PPT invites publications from established and emerging scholars that engage with the significance of theologies for the public square from (1) comparative angles that facilitate inter-religious studies, (2) coalitional angles that foster inter-religious solidarities, and (3) critical angles that re-formulate theology as a resource for contemporary controversies. PPT is published in cooperation with the Centre for Theology and Public Issues (CTPI), University of Edinburgh, Scotland, UK.
RaT Book Series ist eine interdisziplinäre und internationale Buchreihe mit peer-review Verfahren. Sie wurde 2012 gegründet und wird seit 2022 bei BRILL verlegt. Das Ziel der Buchreihe besteht in der wissenschaftlichen Thematisierung des Einflusses von Religionen auf kulturelle, politische, rechtliche, ästhetische und geistige Dynamiken in globalisierten Gesellschaften. Umgekehrt wird die Bedeutung von aktuellen gesellschaftlichen Transformationsprozessen auf Religionen und religiöse Ausdrucksformen untersucht. Die Wechselwirkung von religiösen und gesellschaftlichen Veränderungen verlangt ein Zusammenwirken unterschiedlicher wissenschaftlicher Disziplinen und eröffnet eine Sphäre interdisziplinärer Forschung, die in dieser Buchreihe Raum erhalten soll. Sowohl Theologien verschiedener Konfessionen und Religionen (Katholisch, Orthodox, Evangelisch, Islamisch, Alevi) als auch Religionswissenschaft, Religionsphilosophie, Religionssoziologie, Rechtswissenschaft, Sozialwissenschaft, Judaistik, Islamwissenschaft, Indologie, Tibet- und Buddhismuskunde etc. sind Teil dieses gemeinsamen Projektes. This is a supplement book series for the Journal of Eastern Christian Studies. The series aims to publish peer-reviewed essays and monographs covering the world of Eastern and Oriental Christianity. Their major interest is in historical-contextual studies and in all types of interaction in past and present between various Christian denominations and with non-Christian religious traditions (inter- and intra-religious dialogue and conflict, “World Orthodoxy”, Christianity in the Islamicate world). Within this perspective, the journal and the series welcome contributions of a (religious-)historical, social scientific, and philological nature or combinations of these and other relevant approaches.

Salo W. Baron was considered the greatest Jewish historian of the twentieth century. He laid the ground work for how Jews perceive themselves and are perceived by others. The present series publishes new perspectives in the research on the Jewish experience of both distinguished and aspiring scholars who continue Salo Baron’s work. Contributions to the series focus on the relationship of Jews and non-Jews and perceptions and understandings of Judaism, including but not limited to the history, culture, religion, and institutions of the Jewish people, as well as on their persecution.
