The Uses of Archaeological Heritage in the Caribbean
What is the role of local Caribbean individuals and communities in creating and perpetuating archaeological heritage? How has archaeological knowledge been integrated into education plans in different countries? This book aims to fill a gap in both archaeological scholarship and popular knowledge by providing a platform for local Caribbean voices to speak about the archaeological heritage of their region. To achieve this, each chapter of the book focuses on identifying and developing strategies that academics, heritage practitioners, and non-scholars from the insular Caribbean can adopt to stimulate a necessary dialogue on how archaeological heritage is used and produced on various academic, political, and social levels.

This book examines material and multi-sensorial expressions of Shiʿi Islam in diverse, and understudied demographic and geographic contexts. It engages with conceptual debates and makes several propositions that push the frontiers of scholarship on Islamic and Religious Studies, Material Religion, Heritage Studies, and Anthropology and Sociology of Religion. The contributions presented in this volume demonstrate how material things and less thing-like materialities make the praesentia and potentia of the Sacred tangible, how they cultivate intimate relations between human and more-than-human beings, and how they act as links and gateways to the Elsewhere and Otherworldly. The volume posits that materialities of religion are integral to processes of heritagization shaped by competing social and political actors involved in the construction and canonization of religious—in this case, Shiʿi—heritage.
Foro Hispánico is a peer-reviewed book series devoted to the study of Spanish and Spanish-American culture(s) in the global world. The series offers a forum for internationally focused research that analyses how cultural and literary practices both shape, and themselves are shaped by, global challenges in the Spanish speaking world.
Proposals are welcome for academic monographs and joint volumes, both in English and Spanish. We especially encourage studies that cross disciplines and national borders. Possible interdisciplinary topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the connections between cultural and literary practices, and immigration, race, gender, politics, art, intellectual history, travel writing, rhetoric and anthropology.
