Footnotes

= p. 416 in the recent critical edition The Chapters of the Wisdom of My Lord Mani, Part III: Pages 343–442 (Chapters 321–347). Edited and translated by Iain Gardner, Jason BeDuhn, and Paul C. Dilley (NHMS 92), Leiden-Boston: Brill 2018, 152–153.

Cf. Index of Works of Augustine: Augustine, c. ep. fund.; Index of Biblical Texts: Evodius, De fide.

I follow the helpful division as printed in MPL 42, 571–578.

To avoid any misunderstanding (and a sometimes long search), I follow the (double) chapter and paragraph numbering as in MPL 42 and BA 17, but quote according to J. Zycha’s edition in CSEL.

Numbers of chapters and paragraphs according to the CCL-edition by Almut Mutzenbecher, Turnhout 1984.

As a rule the Psalms are numbered (and quoted) according to (one of) the Vulgate version(s).

Chapters and paragraphs according to C.H. Beeson (ed.), Hegemonius, Acta Archelai (GCS 16), Leipzig 1906.

There is still discussion about the provenance of this and the following apocalypses: are they genuine Jewish or Manichaean forgeries? Cf. e.g. p. 43 n. 26.
