A grandson of Sayyid Jalal al-Din Surkhposh (1199–1292), a disciple of Shaikh Bahaʾ al-Din Zakariyya, he was appointed Shaikh al-Islam of Siwistan (Sehwan) during the reign of Muhammad bin Tughluq (r. 1325–1351).
