Acknowledgements
We would like to acknowledge the support of the Open University of Cyprus, Cyprus, for funding, through its internal funding programme, the research that it is the basis for this book.
This project is associated with the (Erasmus Mundus) International Master in Adult Education for Social Change (IMAESC). All of the partners in the project have been collaborating on IMAESC since 2014. We want to thank the EACAE for funding our programme which to date has 74 graduates from over 35 countries. This is our first major collaborative research project addressing adult education and social change.
We would also like to thank colleagues and friends, including George Zarifis, Michele Schweisfurth and Mike Osborne, for being supportive interlocutors over many years. We thank too the many and diverse adult migrant learners, adult educators and policymakers who shared with us their experiences, perspectives and understandings of the courses in which they participated and allowed us to observe their classes.
Finally, we would like to thank Peter Mayo for encouraging us to prepare and submit this book to the series he is editing for Brill | Sense, International Issues in Adult Education, and for writing the foreword, as well as John Bennett, Brill | Sense, for his patience and support in editing this volume.
