“Recent events, including the COVID-19 pandemic, have sharply disclosed a need to introduce technological tools in learning to make it more efficient and user-friendly. This is becoming particularly important with the increasing use of the Internet and the proliferation of e-learning. Advancements in technology create both positive and negative effects. A good side is making our life easier and providing the teacher with effective tools for a better presentation of the discussed content. However, this poses the danger of overloading the student’s mind with information, enhanced by using the Internet, iPods, and phones. Neuropsychological studies show that our brain resources are limited and we are prone to get distracted. The book aims to help teachers acquire knowledge and skills to integrate technology and teaching to make it effective for students, with content and wording tailored to the learner needs. The authors emphasise the role of creative thinking, language, and emotions in developing cognitive abilities. They also indicate that learning is an active rather than passive process and requires interaction between learners and teachers. It means not only creating a positive climate that encourages exploration but also sharing experience. Thus, training communication becomes essential here and presenting examples of how to do it is one of the book’s merits. The reader can find information on how to apply robotics in learning to make this process enjoyable and teach students to interchange ideas, cope with difficulties and avoid misunderstandings. It is combining theory and practice that is the strength of the book, under four headings: Processes – Practices – Performance – Predictions.”

“This book is a valuable source for all those who are interested in promoting the acquisition of knowledge and skills necessary to meet real-world challenges beyond school in the era of increasing digitalisation of education. The authors draw upon cutting-edge science and contemporary research to inform the readers about the need for proper and balanced use of technology alongside tasks designed to enhance communication competence and stimulate dialogical thinking if school aims at enabling students to deal creatively and flexibly with the rapid technological and societal changes of our century.”
