In this 100th anniversary year of the Middle American Research Institute (MARI) of Tulane University, the authors dedicate this volume to MARI, and to its five directors: William E. Gates, Frans Blom, Robert Wauchope, E. Wyllys Andrews V, and Marcello A. Canuto. Three had an especially high impact on this work: Frans Blom, whose efforts mapping Maya sites into the MARI map of 1940 inspired and provided data for our own work, E. Wyllys Andrews V, who served as dissertation advisor to us both, and has steadily encouraged and guided our efforts, and Marcello Canuto, current director of MARI, and a source of direction as well as field data for this Atlas, as Maya archaeology has moved into the modern LiDAR era
