Acknowledgements
This book has been truly a labour of love in working with the wonderful contributions from 36 authors from South Africa and Canada who are all attached in one way or another to Networks for Change and Well-being: Girl-led ‘from the ground up’ policy making to address sexual violence in Canada and South Africa. It was amazing to see how quickly and with such dedication contributors responded to the call for submissions. We would like to acknowledge the peer reviewers who offered a critical eye to each chapter and provided comments and advice that has helped to shape the book,
We could say that the book almost wrote itself—and with the assistance of several key people it has become a reality. We are so grateful to Dr. Ann Smith for her careful and thoughtful editing. We would like to thank Fatima Khan for taking charge of putting the whole manuscript together, and working closely with Lisa Wiebesiek, and Rooweither Mabuya in South Africa and Leann Brown in Canada to finalise all details.
To Michel Lokhorst at Brill | Sense: we thank you for once again being so willing to run with an idea for a new book.
Many thanks to Pamela Lamb for her remarkable attention to detail in producing the index. In particular we would like to highlight her creativity and her role in helping us see the idea of affective indexing.
Finally, we acknowledge the financial support: SSHRC (File Number 895-2013-3007) and IDRC (file number 107777-001) under the International Partnerships for Sustainable Societies (IPaSS) grant. We also would like to recognize the Pierre Elliot Trudeau Foundation for its support of the project as a whole.
