Acknowledgements
The present volume originated from the international conference Satirical Catalogues – Fictitious Libraries (16th–18th Centuries), which took place 20–21 June 2014 at Leiden University. This conference was made possible by the research programme Hybrid Discourses – Transcoding Processes. Literature in the Margins of the Vernacular (1500–1700), financed by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) and the French-German research programme Eurolab, supported by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). Financial and material support was also given by the Leiden University Centre for the Arts in Society (LUCAS), by the Leiden University Libraries, by the Centre Analyses Littéraires et Histoire de la Langue, Université Lille 3 (ALITHILA), and by the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF). We are very grateful to Karl Enenkel, chief editor of the series Intersections, for his careful reading of the volume, to Meredith McGroarty for the linguistic correction of several contributions to this volume, and to Simon Bénit and Sophie-Anne Smith for their assistance with the editing of the two indexes. At Brill the editing of this volume has profited greatly from careful readings by Gera van Bedaf and Ivo Romein.
