Mathew R. Allen

is associate professor at Babson College in the entrepreneurship division, faculty director for the Institute for Family Entrepreneurship, and academic director for the Global Successful Transgenerational Entrepreneurship Practices (STEP) Project. His expertise is in the effective management of human capital within entrepreneurial environments, especially family enterprises. He teaches entrepreneurship and family entrepreneurship courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. In addition, Professor Allen has been involved in executive education programs across the world with a special interest in Latin America. In addition to programs in the USA, he has worked with executive students from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Germany, Korea, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay. His research interests focus on the performance implications of leadership and effective management in entrepreneurial organizations. His research has appeared in publications such as Personnel Psychology, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, and Strategic Organization.

Philip G. Altbach

is research professor and founding director of the Center for International Higher Education in the Lynch School of Education at Boston College. From 1995 to 2013, he was the J. Donald Monan, SJ University Professor at Boston College. He was the 2004–2006 Distinguished Scholar Leader for the New Century Scholars initiative of the Fulbright program. He has been a senior associate of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and served as editor of the Review of Higher Education, Comparative Education Review, and Educational Policy. He is author of Global Perspective on Higher Education and many other books.

Gabriel Burgos Mantilla

has been a university professor in undergraduate and postgraduate programs, as well as dean of the faculty of law of the Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga (UNAB), and rector of the same university for 18 years. He has also been a member and president of the Asociación Colombiana de Universidades (ASCUN) and Red Universitaria Mutis (RUM). He was vice minister of higher education of Colombia from 2007 to 2010. He is an academic advisor to several Colombian universities and an active member of the Comité de Acreditación de la Red Latinoamericana de Cooperación Universitaria (RLCU).

Rodrigo Capelato

is the executive director of Sindicato das Entidades Mantenedoras de Estabelecimentos de Ensino Superior no Estado de São Paulo (Semesp). He is member of the Consultative Council of the Brazilian Ministry of Education (CC-PARES/MEC) and of the study group on indicators of higher education (GEIES-INEP/MEC). He has bachelor’s degree in economics and an MBA in IT from the University of São Paulo (USP) and is pursuing a PhD in contemporary studies from the University of Coimbra. He is the author of books such as New challenges in higher education and articles such as “Three Challenges to Education Management in the 21st Century” published by Harvard Business Review.

Edward Choi

is a PhD candidate in higher education at the Lynch School of Education and Human Development, Boston College and Research Assistant at the Center for International Higher Education, Boston College. Edward received a master’s degree in international educational development from Teachers College, Columbia University. His research interests include the organization and administration of higher education and family-owned institutions.

Hans de Wit

is Director of the Center for International Higher Education (CIHE) at Boston College, USA. He is founding editor of the Journal of Studies in International Education (Sage), consulting editor of the journal Policy Reviews in Higher Education, associate editor of International Higher Education, and co-editor of the book series Global Perspectives in Higher Education (Brill | Sense). He publishes a regular blog in “University World News.” He has (co)written books and articles on internationalization of higher education and is actively involved in assessment and consultancy for organizations like the European Commission, UNESCO, World Bank, IMHE/OECD, IAU, and European Parliament. He is founding member and past president of the European Association for International Education (EAIE).

Mohammad Imranul Haque

is the program manager and quality assurance program evaluator with the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell of the American International University-Bangladesh. He is engaged in various quality assurance activities as well as coordinating workloads of the staff. He holds a master’s in business administration (MBA) degree from the American International University-Bangladesh. Mr. Haque was also a key person responsible for writing the manual of operation in connection with the university’s ISO9001-2008 certification. Mr. Haque is the university’s representative to the Higher Education Management Information System (HEMIS) organized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Bangladesh.

Chester D. Haskell

serves as interim vice-chancellor for academic affairs and university provost at Antioch University (USA). With four decades of academic leadership experience, he is an independent consultant working with universities in the USA and several other countries including Mexico, the Netherlands, Spain, Brazil, and the United Arab Emirates. His areas of expertise center on institutional governance and strategies, initiatives and requirements for effective international programs, consortia and governmental agencies. In addition, he has considerable knowledge about matters of academic quality, including accreditation. He also is a partner and director of Edu-Alliance Group (USA).

Farheen Hassan

is associate professor, director of the Bachelor in Business Administration Program, and deputy director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at American International University Bangladesh (AIUB) and quality assurance practitioner as external peer reviewer. She has 20 years of working experience with non-government organizations, educational institutions and international organizations.

Carmen Z. Lamagna

was the first woman to be appointed vice-chancellor in Bangladesh. She earned a bachelor’s of science in chemical engineering from Adamson University, a master’s in arts from Rizal Technological University in the Philippines and a doctor of business administration from the California Coast University in the USA. Under her guidance from its inception in 1995, the American International University-Bangladesh, has earned distinction as a source of quality education. The university grew from 70 to more than 11,000 students distributed to faculties of science and technology, engineering, business administration, arts, and social sciences.

Daniel C. Levy

is a SUNY Distinguished Professor at the University of Albany. He is director of the internationally renowned PROPHE (Program for Research on Private Higher Education). His ten authored books, six edited books, and well over a hundred articles mostly focus on universities in the context of civil society and the state, either globally or in Latin America. He has lectured at most leading U.S. universities, lectured and worked in six continents, and been grantee and/or consultant with internationally leading foundations, development banks, and academic agencies. Levy has been awarded lifetime and long-term achievement awards from the leading academic associations in comparative and international education (CIES) and higher education (ASHE). His next book will be The World of Private Higher Education.

Kazuhito Obara

is a professor and associate dean of the college of education, Tamagawa University, Tokyo, Japan and head of the Center of Higher Education and Development, Tamagawa’s research institute. He received his bachelor’s (2001) and master’s (2002) at Boston College, USA and a PhD (2005) from the University of California, Los Angeles. His research interests are comparative higher education, institutional research, enrollment management, university management, and real options under uncertainty.

Arevik Ohanyan

has served as the head of the Quality Assurance Centre at the Eurasia International University (EIU) since 2009, coordinating the implementation and enhancement of the internal quality assurance system as well as managing the external accreditation of the university. In 2019 she was tasked to improve the research environment and systems of the university and serve as head of newly established research incubator of EIU. She holds an MBA degree from the American University of Armenia. She has been a visiting scholar at the Center for International Higher Education (CIHE) of Boston College funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the U.S. Department of State.

Fábio Reis

has a PhD in social history from the University of São Paulo (USP). He is director of academic innovation and cooperation networks at the Sindicato das Entidades Mantenedoras de Estabelecimentos de Ensino Superior no Estado de São Paulo (Semesp) and president of the STHEM Brazil Consortium. He was visiting scholar at Boston College in 2010, general director at the Salesian Center University (Unisal Lorena), coordinator of the laboratory of academic innovation at Unisal from 2016–2018, and coordinator and professor of the university management course at Unisal from 2007–2014. He was the editor of several books including Cooperation Networks (2018), Creative Destruction (2017), Education Economics (2016), Sustainable Organizations in Higher Education (2015), Competitiveness and Changes in institutional DNA (2014).

Alma Santiago-Espartinez

is the vice-president for academic affairs of Holy Angel University in Angeles City, Pampanga. She holds a bachelor’s, master’s and PhD in philosophy from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila. Alma was a Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence grantee in 2010–2011. She taught ethics and philosophy of the human person at the Dominican University of California for a year and delivered 23 lectures in 10 different states in the US during that period. She is also an author of several philosophy books.

Juan Carlos Silas Casillas

holds a PhD in educational policy and leadership from the University of Kansas, a master’s degree in education and bachelor’s in educational psychology from Universidad del Valle de Atemajac (UNIVA) in Guadalajara, Mexico. He is a full professor at ITESO, Universidad Jesuita de Guadalajara, and coordinator of the doctoral program in education. Silas Casillas is a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI) and the Mexican Council of Educational Research (COMIE). He is affiliated with the Program for Research on Private Higher Education (PROPHE) at the University of Albany and an active scholar in the field of private higher education in Mexico and Latin America

Wondwosen Tamrat

is associate professor and founding president of St Mary’s University, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He is an affiliate scholar of the Program for Research on Private Higher Education (PROPHE) at the State University of New York at Albany, USA. He is also the coordinator of the private higher education sub-cluster set up for the realization of the African Union’s Continental Education Strategy of Africa (CESA).

Leopoldo N. Valdes

has worked for international organizations, governments, and non-profits in three world regions. He has an MBA from Simon Fraser University, Canada and a master’s in human resource management from the City University of Seattle, USA. After acquiring a British Columbia professional instructor diploma, he worked for several universities and career colleges in Canada. He returned to the Philippines in 2016 and joined Holy Angel University as senior internationalization officer.

Rene Joshua M. Verdote

is the corporate communications and social media officer of the University of the Cordilleras (UC) in Baguio City, Philippines. He is a part-time faculty member of the university’s college of arts and sciences where he teaches courses in language and literature. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in communication at the UC in 2014.

Charles C. Villanueva

holds a doctor of education (EdD). He is academic vice president, dean of the faculty of business administration, and director of quality assurance at the American International University-Bangladesh. He has participated in education and training in the Philippines and abroad including UNESCO/PROAP Bangkok and NIEPA India. He has taught in various colleges and universities in the Philippines, occupied managerial positions in the Philippine government, and been a consultant to UNESCO with assignments in Asian countries. He has published training manuals and modules in educational planning and management and in quality assurance. Villanueva has published in journals and presented papers at national and international conferences.

Vidya Yeravdekar

is the pro-chancellor of Symbiosis International University, a multi-disciplinary, multinational, multicultural international university, enrolling students from all states of India and 85 different countries. Dr. Vidya holds a postgraduate degree in medicine, a law degree and PhD in the internationalization of higher education in India. Her passion has been instrumental in the university’s innovative approaches to promote internationalization. Her leadership has been key in creating strategic collaborations with universities across the globe for student and faculty mobility.

Kai Yu

is chief executive officer of the China Education Group Holdings Limited, a company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Dr. Yu is a professor in education and has served as an educational consultant to the World Bank. He received his bachelor’s of engineering degree in computer science (first class honors) from Queen’s University of Belfast and master’s of science and doctor of philosophy degrees in educational studies from the University of Oxford. Dr. Yu also received a master’s of business administration degree in finance from the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS).
