Acknowledgements
The creation of a collaborative book such as this one always comes about as a result of so many more people than those whose names appear as editors or authors. We want to express our thanks to all of the authors who have worked with us over this period to write and edit contributions. We particularly want to congratulate those among you who are contributing early in your academic lives. We have deliberately sought numbers of authors who are women and who live and work in what we call the majority world, or what others call the Global South.
We especially want to acknowledge long-term friends and colleagues, from our partner networks (GUNi, the Living Knowledge Network, Talloires Network, Pascal International Observatory, Asia-Pacific University-Community Engagement Network), and our Knowledge for Change (K4C) global consortium.
Tariqa Tandon has been our copy editor par excellence, and Sumitra Srinivasan our coordinator for the publication of the book.
We have enjoyed a warm welcome and effective partnership with several key people at Brill | Sense. John Bennett, our acquisitions editor with Brill | Sense was encouraging from first contact. Jolanda Karada, our production editor with Brill | Sense, has stewarded us through that critical stage when what we believed to be a nearly ready manuscript needed quite a bit of final polishing.
To all those named and unnamed, we say thank you.
