Note on Translations, Editions, and Abbreviations

English-language translations from Plato’s Timaeus throughout the volume are taken from Cornford’s 1937 translation (below), unless otherwise stated. Any alterations to the translation are identified in each case.

The following abbreviations for frequently cited works are used in the volume:
