The Marie Curie ITN proposal ‘Mediating Islam in the Digital Age’ has been awarded

An international consortium of research institutes, universities and non-academic partners in six European countries has been awarded with a research grant from the Department for Research and Innovation of the European Commission in June 2018. Mediating Islam Digital Age (MIDA) is coordinated by the ‘Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique’ (CNRS) in Paris. The consortium includes twelve beneficiaries and thirteen partner organisations, Brill being one of them.

Brill Starts New Journal: Public Anthropologist

Public Anthropologist is the title of a new international, peer-reviewed journal, forthcoming with academic publisher Brill, examining the issues of our time in a way that both encourages and scrutinizes a diverse range of shifts outwards from the purely academic realm towards wider publics and counter-publics engaged in cultural and political exchanges and collective collaborations for change.

Brill becomes publisher of the international journal Emotions: History, Culture, Society

Brill and the Society for the History of Emotions have agreed that the journal Emotions: History, Culture, Society (EHCS) will from now on be published with Brill. Edited by Katie Barclay (Adelaide) and Andrew Lynch (Western Australia), EHCS is dedicated to understanding the emotions as culturally and temporally situated phenomena, and to exploring the role of emotion in shaping human experience and action by individuals, groups, societies and cultures.

Brill, the international scholarly publisher, adds Global Governance: A Review of Multilateralism and International Organizations to its growing portfolio in International Relations. Founded in 1995 by Lynne Rienner Publishers, this internationally acclaimed journal provides a global forum for the discussion of relevant topics on the processes of international cooperation and multilateralism.

Brochure Brill in 2017

The brochure Brill in 2017 contains a summary of the consolidated Financial Statements, the Managing Director's Report and a special article. This year the article is about Digital Humanities. Brill has chosen to be an early mover in this new field and decided early on to join DH projects to prepare for this new development. In our Brochure Brill in 2013 we included an article on the subject and now, five years later, we found it appropriate to report on progress made. For the DH these are still early days, but Brill has taken steps to be perceived as a pro-active publisher by the scholarly communities we serve.

On April 23rd, Dutch scholar and Brill author Ina Kok was announced as the winner of the 17th ILAB Breslauer Prize for Bibliography, for her magnum opus Woodcuts in Incunabula Printed in the Low Countries.

The award ceremony took place on Wednesday 10 April 2018. The award was accepted by Brill’s Sales Director for EMEA and South Asia, Linda Empringham.
