Information for Authors from Australia and New Zealand

Brill has reached a Read & Publish Agreement with the CAUL Consortium for the 2023 calendar year.

The 2023 Read & Publish agreement enables authors from participating institutions in Australia and New Zealand to publish an uncapped number of accepted research and review articles in Open Access in any journals from the Brill Online Journal Collection that their institution subscribes to, without any article processing charges (APCs). All accepted articles will be published under a CC-BY licenseof the author’s choice. To participate in this agreement, institutions must opt into the 2023 Read & Publish Agreement for the Brill Online Journal Collection (and Sub-Collections) with CAUL.

How to Publish Your Article in Open Access

Regular submission and peer review processes apply. Either:

  • Submit your article to your journal contact at Brill using your institutional email address, with the request to publish in Open Access. Indicate that you are an author affiliated with one of the eligible institutions in Australia or New Zealand. Once the article is accepted, it will be published in Open Access right away and free of charge; or
  • Submit your article via Editorial Manager. You will be asked during the submission process whether you are eligible under the Agreement. Once the article is accepted, it will be published in Open Access right away and free of charge.
