Abstract
In this chapter, the author repudiates notions of neutrality in the discussion of partnership, co-conspiracy, and solidarity in the ongoing fight for social justice. She encourages all engaged in equity-oriented work to observe the ways interracial coalitions foster beloved community throughout our shared past toward healing the effects of white supremacy. Further, the author discusses rest as the greatest act of political warfare towards reclaiming our humanity and moving toward social transformation and our collective liberation.
Abstract
With the national shortage of early childhood educators and the persistent need for racially, ethnically, and linguistically diverse care providers, there must be a critical reflection on how early childhood education (ECE) governing agencies can develop trusting, culturally relevant partnerships with Providers of Color to support the care and education of children and communities. This chapter offers recommendations toward fostering culturally relevant relational trust for ECE regulatory agencies that want to develop empowering partnerships with childcare Providers of Color. Recommendations include developing critical consciousness of unique social histories; rooting assessment and support within communal funds of knowledge; shifting power back into the hands of families and providers; and finally, engaging communities and providers through consistency and organizational integrity.

This chapter details the forces behind the Advancing Critical Pedagogy and Praxis across Educational Settings volume. In this work, we first provide the reader with statements of our perspectives and positionalities. We then provide an overview of the partnership project. From there we share what we have taken with us as we work to advance critical pedagogy and praxis by posing a critique of our enactments in and critical reflections on our partnership work focused on the facilitation of cultural competence within culturally responsive practice centers.
