Abstract
In this contribution, Elisa Klapheck shows the democratic implications of basic Talmudic concepts. She analyses five key-terms of Jewish Talmudic tradition: Tikkun Olam, Zelem Elohim, Pikuach Nefesch, Noahadic Laws, Dina de Malchuta Dina. Klapheck highlights the remaining critical tension between God and God’s people and by doing so she outlines the affirmative perception of multireligious concepts of society in contemporary Jewish Theology. The author ends with a concept of the ‘theology of secular society’ which not only allows Jewish thought to ascribe value to secular societies but also to learn from them.
