Since ethical case studies are a major instrument for the implementation of an ethical culture not only in clinics it is crucial that the analysis is following a model which is both systematically convincing and easily to follow in practice. This article makes a plea for an integrative model which not only solves the often neglected problem of priority between different moral aspects but also pays tribute to the leading moral ideals of the particular institution.
Contrary to the assumption that the concept of medical indication either needs to be completed by reference to individual wishes of the patient or should even be considered obsolete, this articles tries to defend the objectivity of this concept as a necessary requirement for the protection of a well understood autonomy and a trustful relationship between physicians and their patients which is based on a clear division of labor and responsibility.
In the context of the current COVID-19-pandemic numerous questions arise that concern different aspects of the concept of justice. This article analyses exemplarily the righteousness of the determination of the goals of government action to fight the pandemic and the relevance of the concept of distributive justice for the problems of triage and a convincing vaccination strategy.
Im Zentrum der gegenwärtigen Diskussion um die (Un-)Zulässigkeit der freiwilligen aktiven Euthanasie steht die Frage, wie das dem Lebensschutz dienende Tötungsverbot und die Autonomie von Ärzten und Patienten miteinander zum Ausgleich gebracht werden können. Eine Antwort darauf kann am Begriff des ›natürlichen Todes‹ ansetzen, der als Leitbild sowohl für das ärztliche Handeln wie auch für die autonome Willensbestimmung des Patienten fungieren sollte. Aufgrund der Mehrdeutigkeit des Naturbegriffs ist die Kategorie des natürlichen Todes möglichst präzise zu bestimmen und gegen nahe liegende Missverständnisse zu verteidigen.
Eine weit verbreitete Position in der gegenwärtigen Klon-Debatte geht davon aus, dass es zwar starke Gründe für ein Verbot des reproduktiven Klonens durch somatischen Zellkerntransfer gibt, dass aber gleichwohl der Einsatz dieser Klonierungstechnik zu Forschungszwecken mit dem Ziel der Entwicklung neuer Therapieverfahren moralisch erlaubt sei. Der vorliegende Beitrag versucht, die Haltlosigkeit dieses Standpunktes nachzuweisen. Da die Produkte des Zellkerntransfers als menschliche Embryonen zu gelten haben, verstößt das Forschungsklonen gegen das Verbot der Totalinstrumentalisierung menschlichen Lebens. Ein schwächere Variante dieses Instrumentalisierungsvorwurfs lässt sich im Verein mit weiteren Argumenten auch gegen das reproduktive Klonen ins Feld führen, so dass aus ethischer Sicht nur ein umfassendes Klonverbot zu überzeugen vermag.

The new noninvasive prenatal tests do not only raise some well-known moral problems of prenatal diagnosis. They are also connected with new possibilities and risks which need to be analyzed carefully from an ethical perspective. In order to minimize the negative consequences for the protection of life and to counteract the increasing danger of discrimination of disabled persons a plea is made for the strengthening of preventive measures and the improvement of education and comprehensive advice for the expectant parents.
