In Mali, between French, the official language, and the different regional languages which have been progressively marginalized, Bambara has aquired an increasing role. Most of the big towns are now bambaraphone and this vehicular language which is influenced by french lexically as well as phonetically and morpho-syntaxically, is progressing more and more within the rural areas, considering its function as a mean of introduction to modernity.

Ideophones which are defined here by a double specificity, semantical and pbonetical, are also characterized by a great variability linked with the impossibility to be derived or composed terms. Among the ideophones that can belong to various grammatical categories, there is in Bambara a specific class of expressive adverbs whose essential characteristic is to be in a restrictive compatibility with the predicates.
