The article addresses structural problems of the German health care system using the example of the hospital sector. Contrary to competitive health-economic concepts that do not sufficiently take into account structural market failures in the health sector, it advocates better government regulation, priority public and non-profit-making sponsorship of hospitals and a reduction in economic incentives for senior doctors.
