With the current issue, AION will start a collaboration with Brill Publishers. The journal is published on behalf of the Università L’Orientale di Napoli and its new Dipartimento di Asia Africa e Mediterraneo. Within this new departmental structure, AION’s original scope – the study of Greek and Latin texts from a historical, literary and philological point of view starting from the archaic period to Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages – will be enriched by a previously only implicit field of interest: the study of those texts contextualized in the Mediterranean and Near East areas.

In the last years the international dialogue among scholars of the Ancient world has become increasingly lively and challenging. AION wants to continue its forty-year history following this direction by welcoming and encouraging such cooperation.
